Creature Commandos 2024– Magnet
James Gunn launched “CREATURE COMMANDOS” before taking over DC
It follows a group of military superhumans consisting of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, a Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. Gunn then greenlit the project himself when he became CEO of DC Studios. Writer and series creator James Gunn appears in the opening credits with a laptop, writing the script. .

He appeared in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The Return of the King (Downhill) (2023). After all this waiting (despite all the denials and confirmations about it), the whole new DCU kicks off at the beginning of the “Gods And Monsters” chapter with their first series, “Creature Commandos,” and as the title suggests about the first chapter, it literally has one! Creature Commandos, the first DCU series, has everything you need, such as recapturing the past and looking into the future. Personally, I like both Zack Snyder and James Gunn better because they brought the DC cinematic experience into the modern era.
Zack was at Netflix as he prepared to return to WB with the 300 project, and James was now in charge of Peter Safran, a longtime DC collaborator and producer
James was known for bringing attention to the dark superhero team from the Marvel Universe, the “Guardians of the Galaxy.” in the spotlight, now he’s the head of DC Studios, the first thing he’ll do is do the same with Creature Commandos, with a new beginning that most consider to be what I believe in… a crazy mix of the world of superheroes, gods and goddesses and monstrous units, I’ve seen the first few episodes, I consider it a crazy start to the whole DCU with some clever recaps and some cameos from unknown and popular DCU characters, although the whole plot was great, I personally like the scary origin plot of the character and the smooth, clean, top-notch animation, although James clarifies that “everyone already knew the origin of Superman, so why do we have to repeat it?”, he certainly put these characters in the spotlight as the original did in the ‘MCU, while the series can also be a satire on the current situation and really crazy events in the world and mix them with DCU locations and events like Metropolis and Themyscira, consider all of this, the villain Circe crashed the party and somehow discovered the whole plot in the later episodes, the music is quite nostalgic, the series also includes several homages to classic DC Comics, Hammer and Universal monster movies, anime, the French-Belgian “Bande Dessinee” and their “Ligne Claire”, to Spanish culture, to European films, to today’s action films, all of which is a pretty monstrous start for the DCU, but the best is yet to come… for now the DCU and its future and Elseworlds (when we have Batman and Joker here, but Snyderverse and Ayer are cut, Reeves and Keaton are in?) are just starting with Superman in 2025, I can’t wait to see more episodes and more DCU.
