The first episode felt 50-50 to me
The premise seemed interesting enough to overlook all the plot holes and I was giving the show the benefit of the doubt. I think the lights in Vegas would actually stay on since Vegas is powered by the Hoover Dam. By the time the second episode rolled around, things got much worse. The first 30 minutes of this 50-minute ordeal were a whole lot of nothing.
Which is solved by feral cats
It’s like watching a love story/soap opera, cliché after cliché… One would assume that the last 20 minutes were redemptive, but no. The most exciting scene is a brief rat infestation. Does that make sense to anyone? And even if it does, why is it a topic?
Or more importantly, why hasn’t he found a house that already has one installed?
And how come this guy has been living alone for a year and hasn’t installed a solar power plant? Surely there are better homes than his old family home, like houses near a river, a lake, an ocean—all major food sources? Instead, he decides to stay in a random suburban cul-de-sac… We see him lonely, but at the same time he does literally nothing to look around his surroundings. He doesn’t have a radio, he doesn’t leave signs, he doesn’t explore.
And as a result, nothing happens
Basically, this is the most boring protagonist ever. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month. Check out our December calendar for more!
